Quilt Retreat:January 28-30

A two day get away for sewing and relaxing! Meals, snacks, two nights lodging, and some special treats are included. Arrive anytime Friday afternoon, January 28. Welcome reception and dinner are at 6:30. You can sew as late as you want, swim in the pool, or just hang out and talk. Saturday night will be show and tell after dinner. Pack your projects and join us at the Holiday Inn Express in DeForest.   $165 double occupancy.

I am so excited to get to go to this...even though it is right near where I live...it seems like a bit of heaven time!  Yea....and I have a brand new quilt all ready to start...so its perfect.   The Mill House Quilts store is putting it on.

My Sweet 16 year olds birthday cake

My daughter's 16th birthday is tomorrow...the 6th...my epiphany baby!  My daughter Hannah and I made her a fancy fondant birthday cake last night.  It was Hannah's idea...I had never done fondant before.  It was a fun mess! ...She got the recipe online.  Its just made with melted marshmallows and powdered sugar and of course, paste food coloring and then you roll it out and create with it...its like stiff pie crust.  Hannah is inspired to make a lot more cakes for friends and relatives.  She said its her new hobby!

HDTV home...I want it!!!

Isnt this house beautiful??!!  I so want to win this home!!  The only problem is its in Vermont...as cold as Wisconsin..so I sure wouldn't be getting away from the cold!!  But I would move in a heartbeat to this lovely home... My issue is I would have to make some room for my own artwork on the walls!  I told my husband to build me this house even if we dont win...He said way too big!!  But we could just cut it in half and keep the good parts...I love the post and beam and wood floors and ceilings and all the windows...I wouldnt trim in black however....I would keep the trim for the windows wood...I think.  Oh, I love to dream!

BOUGHT MY NEW FIBER TODAY!

Bought my new fabric for my art quilt I am making my daughter.  See photo on top right....the koi quilt.  I am ordering the background online...I found just the right fabric for the background.  Hope it comes soon as I am very ready to start.  I have to get the muslin for the back as well....will get that in town.   Top row...koi...Second row lilies...and bottom row lily pads...  Yea...cant wait!!!!

This is fabric from Connecting Threads I ordered!  Perfect for the water isnt it??  I orderd 4 different colors similar to this...and will piece it all together to create what I want exactly!!!

Decided on my next art quilt design

This is something I drew out last year...I was going to do a hooked rug of this..but decided to create an art quilt instead of it.  I am in the process of gathering all my fabric and materials.  Will post pictures as I go.  This is for my daughter Hannah and I am trying to finish it by Valentines Day for her!  It will be quite large...like 1/2 a queen size quilt I think.
